Privacy policy

Effective

HighlightBot doesn't collect your data. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and no tracking. The app makes no network requests of its own. Nothing leaves your device unless you share it.

Your videos and clips

Clips are saved on your device in the app's Documents/Clips folder. You can see that folder in the Files app.

A clip leaves your device only if you share it or save it to Photos.

If you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer, your clips and settings are included in that backup, like other app data.

Permissions

HighlightBot asks for these permissions, and uses each one only for the reason listed.

Camera
To record video.
Microphone
To record audio with your clips, and for the optional voice trigger. If you turn the voice trigger on, the app still uses the microphone for it when “Record audio” is off.
Speech Recognition
For the optional “clip it” voice trigger. Recognition runs on your device. The voice trigger is off by default.
Photos (add only)
Only when you choose to save a clip to Photos. The app can add to your library but can't see what's in it.

Clip details and settings

Clip details such as tags and stars, your app settings, and tag preferences are stored locally on your device.

Purchases

Apple processes purchases and subscriptions through the App Store. The developer doesn't receive your payment details or personal information.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app deletes its data. You can also delete clips in the app, under Settings > Delete all clips, or in the Files app.

Children

HighlightBot isn't directed at children, and it collects no personal data from anyone.
